Dharaneeswarar Educational Trust<\/strong>\u00a0was founded in February 2002 by a group of highly dedicated professionals with high integrity and urge to encourage and implement the building of a strong India by the providing opportunities to the underprivileged and disadvantaged people in urban and rural areas. The Trust is dedicated to bring progress by wide spread education and preservation of the rich cultural and spiritual heritage, a bedrock of our great civilization.\u00a0
Dharaneeswarar Educational Trust<\/strong>\u00a0is implementing the above ideals through the path of an\u00a0Integrated Rural Development Program<\/strong>. The program is being carried out in a cluster of villages around\u00a0Thandalam Village- a village 40 km north of Chennai in Thiruvalluvar District ( a declared backward district) of Tamilnadu<\/strong>. Thandalam Village was selected because of its backwardness and yet its proximity to Chennai so that the Trustees can give. personal attention to the progress. Starting in a small shed in 2003, the school is now housed in a full fledged building and has all government approvals that is necessary to run a successful school
The Primary Objects of the Trust are -.\u00a0
1. EDUCATION:<\/strong>
The Trust set up a Primary School in 2003 in the name of Sankara Matriculation School in Thandalam village<\/strong>\u00a0for imparting education in the backward and rural areas at an affordable cost to the underprivileged and needy. Special efforts are being made to

i.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Enroll children whose parents cannot afford to pay fees charged by nearby private schools.
ii.\u00a0<\/strong>Enroll and retain the Girl child who many times is compelled to leave school at an early age and \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0whose parents feel insecure in sending them to far off places for education.
iii.<\/strong>\u00a0Provide quality education to the children in English medium and prepare them for the future
iv.\u00a0<\/strong>Provide opportunities to educated young men and women within the village to become teachers \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and be a part of the village development programs.
v.<\/strong>\u00a0Provide opportunities for the children to be involved in sports, cultural and other personality\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0building activities.\u00a0
2. RURAL DEVELOPMENT<\/strong>
Keeping in view the vulnerable status of women and children in Rural Society, particularly owing to their economic dependance on others, the Trust will implement Training Programs in Technical Skills and impart management skills to give rural women opportunity to build their own co-operative enterprise.
3. HEALTH CARE<\/strong>
In the field of Health, Nutrition and Family Welfare , the Trust will offer high priority for Primary Health Care infrastructure. We have already conducted an “Eye Care” camp for the people in the villages around Thandalam

Only a part of the proposed building has been completed and a major portion needs to be constructed. Presently the school is operating upto class 7 and the proposal is to expand upto class 12 in progressively each year. For this the building needs to be completed fully.
