Dharaneeswarar Educational Trust was founded in February 2002 by a group of committed professionals driven by a shared vision: to build a stronger and more inclusive India by creating opportunities for underprivileged and disadvantaged communities. Guided by integrity, compassion, and a deep sense of social responsibility, the Trust works to promote education, rural development, and healthcare while preserving the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of our nation.
Our journey began in Thandalam Village, a rural community located approximately 40 kilometers north of Chennai in Tamil Nadu’s Thiruvallur District. Recognizing both the challenges and potential of the area, we launched an Integrated Rural Development Program aimed at creating sustainable and meaningful change in the lives of local families.

Education: Transforming Lives Through Learning
Education is at the heart of our mission.
In 2003, the Trust established Sankara Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Thandalam Village to provide affordable, quality education to children from economically disadvantaged families. What began in a small temporary shed has grown into a fully approved educational institution serving the educational needs of the region.
The school is dedicated to:
- Ensuring that financial constraints never become a barrier to a child’s education.
- Promoting and retaining girl child education.
- Providing quality English-medium education.
- Creating employment opportunities for educated youth from local communities.
- Encouraging participation in sports, cultural activities, and personality development programs.
Today, the school operates up to Class XII with 1400+ Students

We believe that sustainable development begins with economic empowerment.
Through our rural development initiatives, we focus on improving the livelihoods of women and families by providing technical training, vocational skills, and entrepreneurial guidance. Our goal is to help rural women develop the confidence and capabilities needed to establish cooperative enterprises and achieve financial independence.
Healthcare: Building Healthier Communities
Good health is essential for community development.
The Trust works to improve access to primary healthcare, nutrition awareness, and family welfare services. As part of our commitment to community well-being, we have organized healthcare outreach programs, includingEye Care Camps that have benefited residents of Thandalam and neighboring villages.
Our long-term objective is to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure that quality healthcare services reach even the most underserved populations.
